Jewelry, What’s Going On…We Think?

So, we often get asked questions about what the heck is going on with Diamond Prices, the Gold Market, the Stock Market, the United States, the World and just about anything else that makes for some good old fashion face-to-face conversation. And, with that…we had a thought [We know scary right!] that this would make for a great blog post … thus here you are reading, what we think, might happen with some things that we know some things about….we think?

Politics…yep, there a thing. People love to talk politics, but this is a blog post and we simply don’t have enough space to start a conversation on politics, but we must respect what is going on in the United States and the World as it does seem to have an effect on the jewelry industry. 2024 was an election year and there are some trends we tend to see in the Gold Market during election years.

We saw Gold rise to all times high in 2024, however, most predict that through the duration of 2025 gold will stay fairly constant or even decrease. This usually follows course as tensions in other countries slow which calms economic markets and tends to lead to higher confidence in other investments. SO – in our opinion, now is an appropriate time to sell gold and turn it to cash.

Diamond prices are also influenced by World events and now is the time to BUY! We have seen great prices on both Natural and Lab Grown Diamonds. It is our opinion that Lab Grown Prices are going to stay fairly constant through out 2025. Natural diamonds on the other hand we feel will being to regain value and we will begin to see prices increasing. SO – In our opinion now is a great time to purchase…especially in the Natural Diamonds Category.

Colored Gemstones, well there is a different story here. Rubies and Sapphires are going to remain high. There are no new sources for either…so what’s available is what there is and it is hard to get! Demand for top tier stones, those in the top 1%, are showing NO signs of it slowing. However, Zambian Emeralds are a different story. Prices have been all over the board and opportunities to acquire stones at great prices do present themselves. In addition, there appears to be a larger supply at the moment, which should allow for some really nice prices for you the consumer. AND, did we mention…Emerald mining at Kagem has been suspend for six months….SO – It is our opinion that Zambian Emeralds are the buy of the season. Fine Rubies and Sapphires are going to be expensive and will take time to source.

For those that know Q … we have tried to source and stock Tourmaline. Primarily Watermelon and Green, however, we feel with Rubies and Sapphires becoming untouchable in some qualities the price of Tourmaline is going to rise especially in varieties such as Paraíba Tourmaline (A Beautiful Aqua Blue Color of Tourmaline). SO – On our buying trip this year we will include looking for and seeking out great prices on Tourmaline…so stay tuned to see what we uncover! For those that followed us last year you know we scored some beautiful Multicolored Sapphires that we set in our first custom designed production pendant which we offered to you at fantastic prices!)

Last but not least…Cultured Pearls are going to stabilize. The past few years have been CRAZY with China driving prices upward and demand high. We see Pearl dealers currently being forced to sell to the American market at lower prices than other markets which is good news for us. SO – you should be able to find some high quality pearl strands and other pearl jewelry at Q this year!

Well, if you’re still reading we thank you! 2025 is going to be an amazing, fun and trying year with lots of things happening at Q! Make sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram and as always…swing on in, even if just to say HI!

Then again…What is Going on in the Jewelry Biz? … and Who ever really knows….just sayin’!
